How to write good requests

The clearer you are, the closer the first version is to what you have in mind. A few simple habits make the difference.

1

Start from the goal

Say who it is for and what visitors should do. The agent makes better choices when it knows the purpose.

Instead of A website for a gym
Try A website for a small neighborhood gym that invites people to come in for a free trial class
2

List the sections

Name the pages or blocks you want, in order. It is the quickest way to get the structure right the first time.

Instead of A landing page
Try A landing page with a headline, three benefits, prices, customer reviews and a final call to action
3

Describe the style

Colors, mood, fonts: a few words are enough to avoid a generic look.

Instead of Make it look nice
Try Minimal style, lots of white space, dark green and beige, elegant serif headings
4

Give real content

Names, prices, opening hours, texts: real content gives a far more realistic result than placeholders.

Instead of Add some products
Try Products: Margherita €7, Diavola €9, Capricciosa €10; open every evening from 7 pm
5

One change at a time

After the first version, ask for one change per message: it is easier to check and easier to undo if you change your mind.

Instead of Change the colors, add a page, rewrite the texts and fix the menu
Try Keep the menu fixed at the top while scrolling
6

Plan big projects first

For an app with several screens, start in Plan mode: agree on the structure with the agent, then switch to Build.

Instead of Build me a complete app for my book club
Try Plan: an app for my book club with the list of books, the reading calendar and notes for each meeting

Keep in mind: projects run in the browser, so for now they cannot include a server database, user login or online payments.
